Watch Narnia Magician’s Nephew Trailer; Greta Gerwig on Making Movie
Netflix debuted the first trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew at an IMAX theater in New York. The preview opens with Digorey Kirke wondering about his uncle Andrew, a magician played by Daniel Craig. The children soon discover magic is real and, with a magical ring, are transported to Narnia, where they meet talking animals and ride a flying horse. Gerwig said that scene was her favorite to film. The trailer is soundtracked by Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven,” a song the band rarely licenses. Gerwig showed the film to Robert Plant and Jimmy Page, and they were moved to allow the track. She called the song the heart of the movie. The premiere event featured light-up rings, popcorn, and coffee. Gerwig spoke with Stephen Colbert about her approach, explaining she imagines movies for the biggest screen. She got the job after a chance meeting with Netflix’s Ted Sarandos, where she pitched the idea. The film is set for a wide release on February 12, 2027, and will stream on April 2.
