TODAY’s Al Roker looks uncomfortable as ‘awkward’ on-air blunder with Carson Daly turns intimate

There is no question that the TODAY crew is certainly close — but Al Roker has boundaries!

On the Monday, October 19 installment of the longtime morning news program, the veteran weather reporter was struggling with his microphone, when co-anchor Carson Daly offered to help.

The former TRL VJ’s help however was of no use to his co-star, who jokingly called it “awkward.”

As Al was fidgeting with his microphone, Carson stood up from the desk, and his solution was to simply hug Al tight so his voice would be heard to Carson’s microphone instead.

Luckily for them, Al’s microphone was swiftly fixed, and Carson promptly let go of Al, who teased: “That was awkward,” as fellow anchors Savannah Guthrie and Sheinelle Jones, (the latter subbing in for Craig Melvin) looked on.
