TBS Celebrates 4 Years with Record Membership and K in Reader Gifts

This week, The Berkeley Scanner hit its 4th birthday. We threw a little party and asked our readers to join in, aiming for $5,000 from at least 40 members. And wow, you all came through big time! We pulled in over $9,000 from 85 readers—more than double what we hoped for. Now, we’ve got 1,426 paying members, the most we’ve ever had. We heard from lots of you via email and social media, and it meant a lot to read your kind words, even when times are tough. We don’t take that support for granted. Your generosity helps us bring you the news fast, like today’s fatal shooting and the vegetation fire that triggered an air quality alert. We were the first to report the shooting, and we’ve kept you updated with five stories, including details from the OPD’s press conference. As we head into Year 5, we’re committed to keeping up the breaking news and digging deep on what matters in Berkeley. Here’s to the next year—we’re glad you’re with us. Emilie Raguso, Founder, The Berkeley Scanner
