Nick Bosa out, Mike Evans questionable for 49ers-Commanders – NBC Sports Bay Area & California – USFTB
SANTA CLARA – The 49ers will have to wait at least one more week for the return of Nick Bosa to the lineup.
The star pass rusher has been ruled out for San Francisco’s “Monday Night Football” matchup facing the Washington Commanders, coach Kyle Shanahan shared on Friday. Also out for the contest are receiver Deebo Samuel, linebacker Garrett Wallow and safety Marques Sigle.
Receiver Mike Evans, who did not practice this week due to a lingering ribs injury and Achilles soreness was seen on the side field during warmups not wearing his jersey. The medical staff has been managing the All-Pro’s health and Evans is listed as questionable to play.
Defensive backs Upton Stout (shoulder) and Siran Neal (neck) were participating in practice while wearing blue non-contact jerseys, as they have all week, and both have a chance to play on Monday night.
After starting the season on injured reserve with a calf injury, wideout Christian Kirk survived his first full week of practice without any setbacks and has the potential to be activated to play Monday, but Shanahan would not give a full confirmation.
All things considered, the extra day of preparation and rest came at the perfect time for a 49ers team that has been dealing with multiple injuries — as well as a virus going around the locker room that sidelined several players throughout their week of practice.
Defensive end Romello Height, who has been dealing with a hand injury, left practice early on Friday afternoon due to an illness, but he was seen on the field on Saturday, and the rookie does not have an injury designation. Offensive tackle Colton McKivitz also dealt with the stomach bug but has recovered enough to return to practice without an injury designation.
Gracen Halton, who missed two practices earlier in the week with a quadriceps injury, was back on the field for Saturday’s shorter session but remains questionable for Week 6.
Mykel Williams made it through his 2026 season debut in Week 5 without a setback, but Shanahan clarified that the D-lineman is still dealing with issues relating to his knee injury, which caused his questionable designation.
In good news for the offense, Kyle Juszczyk will make his return to the field on Monday night after suffering a very scary knee collision in Week 4. The fullback escaped serious injury, suffering a knee bone bruise and a hyperextension.
