Jackson Koivun has barely had time to settle into life as a PGA TOUR winner, and he already has another high-profile team to join.
The 21-year-old will play for Motor City Golf Club when Detroit’s expansion side enters TGL in 2027, joining Brooks Koepka as the franchise starts building its identity.

Koivun gives Motor City a proven team-golf competitor to complement Koepka, whose five major titles bring instant star power.
Together, they give the Detroit franchise an early identity: accomplished players with different career paths, united by a format built around team play.
Koivun’s latest statement came at the Presidents Cup at Medinah, where he went unbeaten at 2-0-1 in his debut.
The United States trailed by three points entering Sunday, then surged to a 17-13 victory.
Koivun helped power the comeback by recovering from two down against Si Woo Kim in singles. He won three straight holes on the back nine, took control and closed out a 2-up victory.

That added a vivid chapter to a year that already included his first PGA TOUR win. Koivun captured the 3M Open in July in just his third professional start, finishing at 25-under par after rounds of 64, 68, 61 and 66.
He beat Scottie Scheffler by three strokes, turning a fast start to his pro career into a major breakthrough.
Koivun’s success didn’t begin on tour.
At Auburn, he helped the Tigers win NCAA team titles in 2024 and 2026, collected three straight SEC individual championships and became the first golfer to sweep the Haskins, Hogan and Nicklaus awards twice.
He also represented the United States in the Walker Cup, Arnold Palmer Cup and Presidents Cup.

“Some of my best experiences have come while playing team golf,” Koivun said, pointing to his college championships and U.S. appearances as part of what makes the format special.

TGL gives him another chance to bring that team energy to a new audience.
Koepka was Motor City’s first signing; Koivun gives the club another high-profile name and a player with wins across team and individual golf. The Detroit side begins TGL play in 2027, with more roster announcements expected.
