Idaho State Bengals Claim Big Sky Commissioner’s Team of the Month After 4-0 Start

Idaho State football is having a season to remember, starting 4-0 for the first time since 1995. That unbeaten run earned them the Big Sky Conference’s Commissioner’s Team of the Month award for September.

The Bengals kicked things off with a 38-10 win over VMI at home. Then they traveled to Logan and pulled off a 29-17 victory against Utah State, marking their first win over an FBS team since 2017. After a dominant 59-17 win over San Diego, they took a bye week before heading to Cedar City to start Big Sky play with a 28-24 win over Southern Utah.

Now ranked No. 12 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, Idaho State is leading the conference in offense, averaging 38.5 points per game. They’re also solid on defense, allowing just 17 points a game. Quarterback Jordan Cooke is a standout, throwing for 252.8 yards per game with 10 touchdowns.

Four different Bengals players have won Big Sky Player of the Week honors this season, the most in the conference so far. The team is set to host No. 19 Northern Arizona in their next game, which is the first ranked matchup in Pocatello since 2018.
