JACKSON, Miss. — If you’re hoping for a bit of cool air, get outside early. Otherwise, brace yourself for several more days of near-record heat. The sunshine and warmth are making conditions dry, so the fire risk keeps rising throughout the week. A dry cold front is coming, which will bring stronger winds and make the fire danger even worse from Friday into Saturday. But don’t worry, after the front moves through, we’ll enjoy a pleasant cooldown over the weekend, a nice break from the summer-like warmth. Temperatures will drop back to normal, and mornings will feel chilly.
