Redemption Without Remorse: The Deshaun Watson Story

Thursday night’s Steelers-Browns game on Prime Video was full of careful handling around Deshaun Watson’s past troubles. The broadcast, including an interview with Taylor Rooks and comments from Al Michaels and Herbstreit, danced around the real issues without naming them directly. This fits Watson’s pattern of avoiding true remorse for the over 25 lawsuits about sexual misconduct during massages. Even after a grand jury didn’t indict him, the NFL gave him an 11-game suspension. Watson said he had ‘no regrets’ twice in 2022, then apologized later that year, but it felt forced. In 2026, he again said he regrets nothing, calling his troubles a test from God. During the Prime interview, he talked about the world turning against him but never admitted fault. Fans booing him? He gets it but won’t say why they’re upset. The whole thing feels like a push to make him look good without real change. Can he ever earn forgiveness if he doesn’t show he gets what he did wrong?
