B.C. Conservatives on Brink of Historic Majority as Election Races Stay Photo-Finish
Despite CBC News projecting a Conservative majority, several ridings across British Columbia are still too close to call. At Brennan Day’s watch party in Courtenay-Comox, the atmosphere is tense. Supporters feel a mix of excitement about the potential win and hesitation because the race has been tight all night, much like the election two years ago. In the last hour, NDP’s Will Cole-Hamilton has edged ahead, keeping everyone on edge. Day, who spoke to CBC earlier, described the past couple of months as challenging. He entered the campaign as an Independent after briefly leaving the party caucus under Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s leadership. Meanwhile, in the Interior, the Kelowna Centre riding remains a nail-biter. The lead has flipped repeatedly between NDP’s Loyal Wooldridge and Conservative incumbent Kristina Loewen. As Loewen’s lead grows, Conservative supporters are cheering loudly, dreaming of a sea of blue across the Okanagan.
