Darius Acuff Jr. Gets His First Reebok Shoe in NBA Debut
The Sacramento Kings are kicking off their season tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers, but for guard Darius Acuff Jr., it’s already been a huge week. Reebok dropped the rookie’s signature logo and shock-released a player-exclusive colorway of the brand’s flagship basketball shoe, the Engine A.
Acuff is set to start his NBA career in the Reebok Engine A. Inspired by his confidence and skill on the court, the shoe rocks a bright neon cherry red upper with Acuff’s signature logo popping in black on the tongue.
Acuff explained that the Engine A is the shoe that actually brought him to the brand. “The first time I wore these I knew where I wanted to be, so it makes sense to start my pro journey with a PE of what started it all,” he said, hinting at his future signature shoe, the “Acuff 1.”
His rise has been fast. From IMG Academy to Arkansas, Acuff proved himself as one of the top prospects in the country. Now, he’s taking the Engine A into the pros.
If you want to grab a pair, the Reebok Engine A x Darius Acuff Jr. dropped on Friday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m. ET. They cost $120 in adult sizes and are available exclusively on Reebok.com.
Under the hood, the Engine A is packed with solid tech. It features an ERS SuperFloat Foam core infused with nitrogen, offering responsive energy and impact protection. Thanks to clever cutouts in the outsole, you can actually watch the compression and energy return in action. A stability plate keeps the shoe steady when you’re cutting hard and changing direction. The upper is a one-piece molded synthetic build, giving you support in a lightweight, breathable package, while a molded heel cap adds extra lockdown for quick players. It all wraps up on a tough rubber outsole.
This shoe is a big part of Reebok’s comeback to performance basketball. The Engine A was the brand’s first hoops shoe in years, introduced on court by WNBA All-Star Angel Reese, with design nods to the 90s Mobius line. Reese has since landed her own signature shoe, and Acuff is walking the exact same path, with this player-exclusive marking his first major step.
