Who is Kym Johnson? Meet the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ Dedication Night guest judge who married ‘Shark Tank’ star Robert Herjavec
If you are tuning into Dedication Night on Dancing with the Stars, you will spot a very familiar, highly celebrated face in the judges’ fourth chair. It is Kym Johnson-Herjavec, a legendary former pro dancer who spent fifteen seasons tearing up the ballroom, winning the coveted Mirrorball trophy twice, and ultimately leaving the show for love. Now she is back to share her expert eye, and fans could not be happier.
Kym actually started her journey on the Australian version of the show before making her big move to the U.S. in 2006. She made history in 2009 when she and Donny Osmond took home the trophy, becoming the very first pro to win the competition in two different countries. She added another win to her belt in 2011 alongside NFL star Hines Ward. Over the years, she partnered with a massive list of celebrities, from Jerry Springer and Joey Fatone to Mark Cuban and Mr. T. Her last season as a competitor was in 2017, but she has popped back for special episodes, including last year’s highly emotional Dedication Night.
Of course, her most famous partnership was the one that changed her life. In 2015, she was paired with Shark Tank investor Robert Herjavec. Although they only placed sixth, the two hit it off instantly, and their chemistry was impossible to hide. They married in a beautiful Los Angeles ceremony in July 2016, and Johnson decided to hang up her competitive dancing shoes to start a family. They welcomed twins, Hudson and Haven, in 2018, and now they split their time between Canada and Australia. She also branched out into acting, starring in the Lifetime movie Hunting Housewives.
Her return to the judges’ table is a fan favorite moment. Last year’s Dedication Night was a massive hit, pulling in nearly six million viewers and a record-breaking number of votes. Her critiques were warm, fair, and deeply respectful of the contestants’ personal stories, prompting a wave of calls on social media asking for her to become a permanent fourth judge. With the scoring system now out of forty points, her scores could easily shake up the leaderboard and decide who goes home on Tuesday night.
