Georgia football will go up against an Auburn team coached by Alex Golesh for the first time on Saturday.
It’s the third matchup of Mike Bobo’s Georgia offense against an Auburn defense run by coordinator D.J. Durkin.
The Tigers’ defense stands out for their speed and athleticism, coach Kirby Smart said.
“They can fly to the ball,” Smart said. “They play really hard. They attack the ball. They blitz. They come after you. They’re aggressive. You can see his personality coming out in the players and the way they play.”
Georgia was held to 277 yards in a 20-10 Bulldogs win in Auburn last year and 337 in a 31-17 win in 2024 In Athens.
Auburn ranks 24th in the nation in sacks per game with 2.8, but is missing star linebacker Xavier Atkins who Golesh told reporters is away from the team this week.
Georgia has allowed just six sacks in six games.
Gunner Stockton’s ability to escape pressure helps, but the Bulldogs offensive line has protected well.
“Making sure we keep him safe,” guard Dontrell Glover said. “Making sure his jersey is always clean after the game.”

- Georgia 37, Auburn 10: Auburn last topped 13 points in a game at Georgia in 2009 when Chris Todd was the quarterback. This doesn’t look like a Tigers offense that can change that. It has scored 21 and 14 points the last two games and ranks 13th in the SEC in scoring.
