Canelo Pleads for Crawford Rematch: ‘We Need This Fight!
Terence Crawford called it quits after a stellar career, but now Canelo Alvarez is really pushing for him to come back. Crawford retired in December after beating Canelo, making himself a three-division undisputed champ and joining the ranks of legends like Floyd Mayweather with an unbeaten record. Even though he’s been linked to fights with Jaron Ennis and Ryan Garcia, Crawford doesn’t seem interested. But if he ever decides to return, Canelo is ready for a rematch, believing their first fight was tighter than the scorecard showed. Speaking to Ring Magazine, Canelo said he knows his mistakes and hopes the rematch happens. ‘We need it,’ he insisted. ‘There’s no bigger fight than that.’ Before that can happen, though, Canelo has to face Christian Mbilli next, set for October 31 in Saudi Arabia, assuming the ongoing conflict doesn’t cause a cancellation.
