Shanghai Masters Draw Unveiled: Djokovic and Alcaraz Face Tough Paths to Glory

Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz are both still competing in other tournaments, but their draws for the Shanghai Masters have been confirmed. Djokovic, a four-time champion in Shanghai, is seeded 10th and gets a bye to the second round. However, he could face tough opponents like Hubert Hurkacz early on, with Lorenzo Musetti potentially waiting in the third round. Other threats in his half include Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and Frances Tiafoe, and he’s expected to meet Alcaraz in the final if both advance.

Alcaraz, aiming for his first Shanghai title, is the second seed and could start against Juan Manuel Cerundolo. His path might include Ignacio Buse, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev, or Tommy Paul, with defending champion Valentin Vacherot a possible fourth-round opponent. Alcaraz is forecast to face Zverev in the final.

Djokovic has expressed uncertainty about playing in Shanghai, saying he needs to assess how he feels after his current tournament. The main draw starts on October 7, so he has time to decide.
