Longtime Q99 morning host David Page announces retirement after 35-year radio career – USFTB
ROANOKE, Va. – After nearly three decades on the air at WSLQ – Q99 and a 35-year broadcasting career, radio personality David Page has announced his retirement.
Page’s final full-time broadcast on Q99 is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 11, 2026.
Page is widely recognized as one half of the “Dick & Dave” morning show, co-hosted with Dick Daniels. Together, they have been a consistent presence for listeners in the Roanoke and Lynchburg areas. In addition to their on-air work, the pair have led charitable efforts, including “Dick and Dave’s Miracle Day,” which has raised more than $3 million for the Children’s Miracle Network.
Throughout his career, Page has received recognition in reader-voted contests from publications such as The Roanoker Magazine, Lynchburg’s City Magazine, and Lynchburg Living. He has also anchored coverage during significant local and national events, including the events of September 11, 2001, and the Virginia Tech tragedy in 2007.
“Everybody loves Dave. Dave has been an anchor for Q99, our company, and our listeners for nearly 30 years. He is always so full of positivity and has absolutely helped to make our company a better place to work,” said Brett Sharp, Vice President and General Manager of Wheeler Media Solutions. “His dedication to our community, his quick wit, and his partnership with Dick Daniels have helped shape Q99 into what it is today. We will miss him in the hallways and especially on the airwaves, but we are hopeful to have Dave do some Q99 cameos and fill-ins from time to time. We wish Dave nothing but a happy retirement and lots of sleeping in.”
Originally from Long Beach, California, Page served 10 years in the U.S. Army, where he first became interested in broadcasting. After his military service, he attended broadcasting school and joined WSLQ and WSLC in 1991. He briefly worked at a station in Raleigh in 1993 before returning to Q99 in 2000, where he has remained a fixture in the morning lineup.
In retirement, Page plans to spend more time with his wife of over 40 years, Michele, and their rescue beagle, Penelope. He also hopes to explore more of his passions for painting, reading and traveling.
