Ashlyn Krueger, ranked 68th in the world, is gearing up to face Janice Tjen, who sits at No. 47, in the Round of 32 at the Kinoshita Group Japan Open. The match is scheduled for Monday, October 19, at the Utsubo Tennis Center in Osaka, Japan, on a hard court surface. Krueger enters as the favorite with -139 odds, suggesting she has around a 58% chance to win, while Tjen’s +110 odds point to about a 47% probability. Looking at their form this year, Krueger boasts a 21-18 match record, compared to Tjen’s 15-25. Krueger also averages more aces per match at 4.8 versus Tjen’s 4.1, and she’s been more efficient on break points, winning 131 compared to Tjen’s 103. For fans looking to bet, Krueger seems like the safer pick, but Tjen’s higher ranking means she could spring a surprise.
