“I miss that dude every day” – Stephen Curry admits Golden State still feels Klay Thompson’s absence – USFTB
More than two seasons have passed since Klay Thompson decided to leave the Bay Area and move to Dallas. However, time has done little to quell Stephen Curry‘s longing for his former “Splash Brother.”
In a candid interview with Stephen A. Smith, Curry opened up about his relationship with Thompson and said he looks forward to one day sitting down with him and fellow Golden State Warriors Draymond Green to reminisce about everything they accomplished together.

A backcourt unlike any other
Curry and Thompson shared the same backcourt for 11 seasons, and together they helped oversee the Warriors’ transformation from perennial doormats to a full-blown dynasty. Aptly nicknamed the “Splash Brothers” for their ability to make it rain from beyond the 3-point arc, they gave opposing teams nightmares; if you paid too much attention to one, the other was likely wide open, a death wish for any defense.
With four NBA titles, Curry and Thompson will be remembered as one of the greatest backcourts in NBA history.

That said, nobody can blame Steph for still feeling like a huge part of him is still missing every time he takes the floor.
“I miss that dude every day,” Curry declared. “But that’s part of the NBA.”
A bond beyond basketball
As meaningful as Curry and Thompson’s relationship was on the court, as they helped revolutionize the game with their incredible perimeter proficiency, the Baby-Faced Assassin believes their off-court relationship means just as much. They not only pushed each other to be better basketball players, but they also grew up together.

“Everything’s not going to be the same because we all grew up together. Me and Draymond, we grew up as adults. We grew up as competitors, as champions,” Steph explained. “And, um, at the end of the day, when it is all said and done, I can’t wait for us to break bread, have a glass of bourbon, and, uh, reminisce on all the things that we were able to accomplish.”
Part of a contender
Over the last two years, Klay has become a forgotten man in Dallas. He wanted to go there to be part of a championship-contending squad and play alongside Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out as he expected, with Luka getting traded to Los Angeles and Kyrie suffering an ACL injury.

Now with the Miami Heat, Klay is expected to give two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo the space he needs to be at his very best.
“I’m happy for him in Miami. I know he wants to be in a situation where he can, uh, be impactful, have a, you know, championship-contending kind of energy going into the season. That’s, I think, what they have,” Steph stated.
“So for him, he deserves an opportunity to play and impact a winning team. I wish it was still with us, but that’s part of the nature of how things evolve in the league,” he continued. “And nobody’s going to hold that cloud over any of our heads, um, because what we accomplished was so great that they’ll talk about it forever.”

Steph and Klay may no longer be teammates, but they still share the same goal: to win more championships as they near the end of their respective careers.
