GTA 6 Devs at Rockstar Had Freedom to Add Cool Features Like RDR2’s Horse Balls – USFTB
Rockstar really let the GTA 6 devs run wild with cool details. So much so that even the big bosses at Rockstar don’t know about everything in Vice City. This is according to Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, who spent time at the Rockstar North offices and made a video about it.
He said the team had the freedom to add all sorts of little things to the game, like in Red Dead Redemption 2 where horses have testicles that shrink when it’s cold. That wasn’t planned; it was just a fun detail someone added because they could. GTA 6 is going to be full of those kinds of surprises.
Schreier also talked about how Rockstar tried to ditch the weapon wheel for GTA 6. They thought it might break the immersion by reminding players of inventory limits, so they brainstormed alternatives like trays or webs. But after trying a million things for months, they gave up and stuck with the wheel.
The development had some rough patches too. Between 2019 and 2022, the team was stuck trying to mix RDR2’s realism with GTA’s arcade style. Some members felt like they were going in circles, and they had to cut some designers before things started clicking in 2023. The game’s been in the works since 2015, with trips to Miami to plan out Vice City.
With the release just a month away on November 19, 2026, Rockstar is pulling out all the stops for marketing, like putting real cars from the game in Miami. If you want more, there are new trailers and screenshots to check out.
