Michigan men’s basketball welcomes a familiar face back to the Crisler Center as the Wolverines host Oregon State for a Friday night exhibition game.
The Beavers are led by Justin Joyner, a U-M assistant under Dusty May from 2024-26. Tip-off from Ann Arbor is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, and the game will stream on B1G+.
As Oregon State begins a new era under Joyner and returns to the Pac-12 Conference, the program has also overhauled its roster. Their roster features only one returning player — Josiah Lake II, an All-WCC First Team selection last season — and 12 newcomers. This represents the Beavers’ first exhibition game, though they played three games over the summer as part of a foreign tour to Canada.
KenPom ranks Oregon State as the nation’s 98th-ranked team entering the 2026-27 season and projects Joyner’s squad will finish 18-13. In addition to Lake II, the projected starting point guard, the rotation could feature Daniel Freitag (a transfer from Buffalo), DeShawn Gory (Fresno State), Jackson Rasmussen (Idaho), Xavion Staton (BYU) and Dennis Evans (Grand Canyon).
The exhibition game will help the Wolverines integrate its many newcomers to the team. Moustapha Thiam, J.P. Estrella and Jalen Reed joined via the Transfer Portal to rebuild a frontcourt that lost three NBA Draft lottery picks. Meanwhile, Ricky Liburd is projected as an impact player after a redshirt season, and Quinn Costello’s 3-point shooting flashed during U-M’s first exhibition game.
