Dungeon Crawler Carl Officially Returns Next Month
It’s a pretty miserable time to be a crawler of dungeons, especially when you consider you’re having to also survive a deadly alien game show — and you happen to be with a talking cat as well. Yep, that’s not going to be the most enjoyable thing, but that’s how Matt Dinniman‘s enormously popular LitRPG series has become a publishing phenomenon, turning its increasingly ridiculous combination of monsters, violence and Princess Donut into one of fantasy’s biggest recent success stories. And fans can’t get enough of it, which is why news of the latest expansion of the series is going to get us going.
Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable is officially arriving in November 2026, bringing Dinniman’s bestselling fantasy universe to tabletop gaming through a new deck-building adventure from Renegade Game Studios. The game allows players to take control of Carl or Princess Donut as they battle monsters, collect upgrades and attempt to survive the deadly World Dungeon. Players can tackle the adventure alone or team up with another crawler in two-player cooperative mode, with the core game covering the first three floors of the dungeon.
Players can choose between shorter Arcade sessions, which focus on individual floors, or a longer Campaign mode that carries certain upgrades between levels. The base game is priced at approximately $60, with two additional expansions also scheduled for November.
Dungeon Crawler Carl Is Getting Even More Games
The first expansion, Iron Tangle, introduces the fourth-floor subway system from the novels, complete with new enemies, bosses and upgrades, while Crawler Chaos builds out the roster with characters including Katia, Imani and Prepotente, alongside options for creating your own crawler. Both expansions are priced at approximately $25 each.
The new releases follow a crowdfunding campaign that brought together Unstoppable and the official Dungeon Crawler Carl tabletop role-playing game. The campaign raised more than $13.29 million from 55,972 supporters, becoming the most-funded game in BackerKit history.
The tabletop RPG will also arrive in November. Its $55 Starter Set includes introductory rules, maps, dice and pre-generated characters, while the $65 Core Rulebook provides more than 300 pages of additional material covering character creation, monsters, spells and equipment.
Dungeon Crawler Carl: Unstoppable is scheduled for a wider retail release in late November 2026, with preorders available through Renegade Game Studios.
