CoreWeave Imploded 20% Over 6 Months: This Analyst Predicts It Will Triple in Price Over the Coming Year – USFTB
CoreWeave (CRWV) has been on a wild ride, and the stock price tells a story of heavy selling pressure. Currently trading around $80, the AI infrastructure provider is sitting roughly 42% below last year’s peak. Yet, while most investors are selling off, one prominent analyst is calling for a massive surge.
Rosenblatt Securities has set a Street-high price target of $250 for CoreWeave. If that target is hit, the stock would surge by 211% from its current levels, effectively tripling in value over the coming year. The average price target among all analysts is more conservative at $141, which still implies a solid 76% upside.
So, what is driving this massive split in opinion? On one side, CoreWeave is riding a massive wave of demand. The company rents out powerful NVIDIA GPUs to AI labs and enterprises, and its second-quarter revenue skyrocketed 112% to $2.58 billion. Its order backlog stands at a staggering $104 billion, fueled by massive contracts with major players like OpenAI, Anthropic, and a major hyperscaler.
But on the other side of the coin is a heavy balance sheet. CoreWeave is spending aggressively to build out its infrastructure, shelling out $6.42 billion on capital expenditures in the second quarter alone. This massive growth comes at a cost: the company posted a net loss of $626 million, and interest expenses hit $640 million as debt piles up. With a debt-to-equity ratio nearing 9, the financial structure looks fragile, and a securities fraud class action over alleged construction delays adds another layer of risk.
Despite the massive cash burn, there are signs that the heavy investments are starting to pay off. Operating cash flow swung into the positive territory at $679 million, and adjusted EBITDA reached $1.51 billion with a healthy 59% margin. The company also locked in a $2 billion investment from NVIDIA, cementing its exclusive access to critical GPU supply.
Of the 42 analysts covering the stock, 31 rate it as a Buy, showing strong institutional confidence. However, earnings forecasts paint a different picture, with analysts expecting the company to remain unprofitable through 2027. While the massive backlog offers long-term security, the high debt and rising interest costs leave very little room for error if the market cools down.
When compared to AI peers like Applied Digital (which offers 175% upside) and IREN (with 125% upside), CoreWeave sits in the middle of the pack on consensus targets. Only Rosenblatt’s bold $250 call puts the stock at the top of the list, making it the ultimate high-risk, high-reward play in the crowded AI infrastructure space.
