Following in His Father’s Skates: Cole Knuble Makes NHL Debut for Flyers
Cole Knuble grew up with the Philadelphia Flyers’ home arena as a familiar backdrop, thanks to his dad Mike’s long career with the team. On Monday night, that childhood dream came true as he stepped onto the ice for his NHL debut, wearing the Flyers’ colors with his parents cheering from the stands. The 22-year-old forward was one of three call-ups from the Lehigh Valley AHL squad, stepping in to help out while Owen Tippett, Tyson Foerster, and Travis Konecny were sidelined with injuries against Colorado. ‘I’ve been a Flyers fan my whole life, so this means even more,’ Knuble shared. Drafted in the fourth round back in 2023, he came into training camp hoping to earn a spot but ended up back in the minors. At first, it was tough, but he soon found his groove. ‘Once I got to Lehigh, the coaching staff and teammates made me feel right at home. I’ve been playing in all kinds of situations, which is a great chance to show what I can do, and honestly, it’s been a blast.’ Mike Knuble laced up for Philadelphia in over 300 games during his own NHL journey, and now his son is starting his own story.
