The founders of the luxury women’s apparel brand Bryn Walker, Bryan Walker and Michelle Min, were found shot dead outside their hillside home in Oakland, California, on October 2nd. Oakland police confirmed the couple’s identities after responding to the 400 block of Panoramic Way following reports of a shooting.
Michelle’s brother, Paul Min, shared heartbreaking details about the days leading up to the tragedy, revealing his belief that Walker shot his sister before taking his own life. Paul described a severe decline in Walker’s mental health, reportedly fueled by millions of dollars lost in risky financial ventures. Paul recalled Walker as the most honest, responsible, and hardworking man he had known for nearly four decades, struggling to reconcile the suspected violence with the brother-in-law he loved.
According to the family, Walker had allegedly suggested that he, Michelle, and Paul ‘end things.’ Michelle Min was reportedly planning to have her husband admitted to a psychiatric facility for treatment on the very day of the shooting. While the family points to a tragic combination of financial ruin and mental health struggles, police have not confirmed the motive or the exact sequence of the gunshots.
Officers arrived at the scene shortly after 10:30 a.m. and attempted life-saving measures before paramedics declared the couple dead. Oakland police, leading the investigation, recovered a firearm at the scene but have not officially ruled out a murder-suicide or determined who pulled the trigger. Bryn Walker, a Berkeley-based luxury brand operating since 1992, designs and manufactures its clothing in the San Francisco Bay Area, supplying roughly 1,000 boutiques across the country. The community is mourning the sudden loss of the creative duo as the investigation remains active.
