Breast cancer walk in Harrisburg raises awareness and support for survivors
Breast cancer survivors and health advocates gathered on City Island in Harrisburg on Saturday for a walk honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The event celebrated survivors, showed support for women currently battling the disease and remembered those who have lost their lives to breast cancer.
Breast cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among women in the United States. Organizers say events like the walk help raise awareness and remind patients and families that they are not alone in the fight.

“If you look here, there’s ten thousand people that are all wearing pink that are all here for the same cause,” said Jess Moyer with the American Cancer Society. “They are here to fight back against breast cancer. There is more hope today than there was yesterday, and there is more hope tomorrow than there is today, so you are not alone.”
Organizers projected the City Island walk would raise more than $600,000 to support efforts to fight breast cancer.
