Brandin Podziemski starts for Warriors vs Grizzlies, goes to locker room
Brandin Podziemski started for the Warriors in their home opener against the Grizzlies, but he headed to the locker room early in the first quarter. He took a pass from Graham Ike and went up for a layup over Zach Edey, who seemed to strike him in the face. The play continued without a call, but Podziemski stayed down and walked off on his own. He had four points on two attempts before leaving. He later returned to the bench and played again. Podziemski missed the season opener with a sore back, but coach Steve Kerr said he was ready to start. The guard, who averaged 13.8 points, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals last year, signed a five‑year, $110 million contract extension.
