Alex Pereira Claims UFC Used Influencers to Manipulate Gane vs. Hokit Fight Booking
Alex Pereira really wanted a shot at Ciryl Gane for the UFC heavyweight title again, but the promotion decided to go with Gane versus Josh Hokit instead. Pereira isn’t happy about it, saying the UFC pulled in guys like Daniel Cormier to convince fans that this was the right call. He thinks it was all kind of rigged, with the UFC using their own commentators as influencers to sway public opinion. Gane had beaten Pereira for the interim belt back in June, and now he’s set to face Hokit, who’s coming off a win over Derrick Lewis, for the real title while Tom Aspinall’s out with an eye issue. Pereira mentioned that the UFC told him about some poll they did, but he didn’t buy it. He even recalls Cormier saying weird things, like questioning if Pereira would be champion if he beat Gane. Pereira co-headlines a card against Sergei Pavlovich in December, but he’s still bitter about how the Gane fight got booked.
