Accenture’s $29 AI Cap: Employees Shocked by Claude Spending Cut
Accenture has informed many of its employees that the company will now only cover $29 per month for their use of the AI tool Claude. This change has caught some staff off guard, as they were previously spending as much as $1,000 each month on the service. Workers are now rushing to find ways to maintain their current levels of usage despite the new limit.
This move reflects a broader trend where companies are reining in spending on AI tools after realizing how quickly users are consuming credits. Accenture, which has been a strong advocate for AI adoption, is now tightening the reins, adding a layer of irony to the situation. An internal memo highlights that starting October 1, only $29 will be centrally funded for Claude Enterprise per person, with any extra costs needing to be covered by specific projects.
Employees on higher plans might be unaffected, but those on standard plans are feeling the pinch. Some have reported that their access has been revoked entirely, while others are pleading for upgrades to avoid project charges. An Accenture spokesperson stated that the company is still investing in AI but aims to ensure tools are used where they bring the most value.
