India’s Athletic Triumphs on Day 14: Mohod and Urs Secure Historic Gold

Day 14 of the Asian Games 2026 was an electrifying day for Indian sports fans, with athletes delivering stellar performances across multiple events. The morning was dominated by archery and golf, where India clinched several medals, sparking cheers from supporters worldwide.

The standout moment came from 17-year-old Kumkum Mohod, who won the women’s individual recurve archery gold. After beating China’s Zhu Jingyi in the semifinals, Kumkum faced South Korea’s Oh Yejin in a tense final. She fell behind early but rallied impressively, leveling the score and forcing a shoot-off. In the decider, Kumkum shot a flawless 10 to secure victory, earning India’s first gold in this event.

In the men’s recurve, Neeraj Chauhan claimed bronze after a hard-fought win over teammate Dhiraj Bommadevara. Both had come close to the final but fell short, making their all-Indian showdown a thrilling encounter that Neeraj ultimately won.

Golf fans celebrated as Pranavi Urs captured gold in the women’s individual stroke play. Leading into the final round, she maintained her composure to finish at 15 under par, one stroke ahead of her rivals. This triumph marked a milestone as the first Indian woman to win individual gold at the Asian Games.

Wrestling also saw action, with Aman Sehrawat and Antim Panghal advancing to their respective finals through strong comebacks. Meanwhile, Deepak Punia will compete for bronze after a narrow loss. The day capped off with a high-stakes cricket match between India and Pakistan, adding to the excitement.
