Redick confident young Lakers will get chances despite errors

The Lakers have got two promising young wings in rookie Cameron Carr and second-year Adou Thiero. Both looked great in Summer League – Thiero seems like a defensive beast, and Carr’s shotmaking is something else. They’re both freak athletes, but with so many wings fighting for minutes, they’ll be on a short leash. Head coach JJ Redick gets that. He’s straight up about it: everybody makes mistakes in the NBA. The difference is whether your role lets you screw up big time. Redick remembers his early days – eight minutes if you’re lucky, and one bad play and you’re benched. That’s just how it is for guys on the edge. But he’s confident Carr and Thiero will get their shot. He saw Cam in action and had to pull him aside during a scrimmage to teach him a thing or two. But Carr picks up fast, and Redick believes he’ll contribute this season. Same goes for Thiero, who’s been praised all offseason. If they earn it, they’ll play.
