Score Predictions: Hornets vs Heat – Can Charlotte Bounce Back After Brutal Loss?

The Charlotte Hornets are coming off a devastating 47-point loss to their division rivals, the Atlanta Hawks, and now they face the Miami Heat tonight. Everyone in Uptown is hoping they can put that ugly performance behind them and get back to winning ways. Our staff has shared their thoughts on what might go down in this matchup.

Schuyler Callihan predicts a Heat win, 120-105. He notes that Brandon Miller hasn’t been on top of his game in the first two contests, and it seems like he’s trying to carry the team but just can’t. Callihan believes Miller won’t fully click until Coby White returns, which isn’t happening tonight. While Charlotte’s offense might struggle again, he doubts it’ll be as disastrous as last night – it can’t get that bad twice in a row, right?

Zach Roberts sees the Heat taking it 110-95. He argues that the Hornets lack real offensive firepower right now, and last night was just unfathomably bad. Brandon Miller looks like a shadow of himself without a top playmaker to set him up, and that won’t change against Miami’s defense. With Giannis Antetokounmpo dominating the frontcourt, Charlotte simply doesn’t have the weapons to keep it close. Roberts warns it could be another ugly one.

Evan Campos forecasts a closer game, with the Heat winning 116-102. He doesn’t think Charlotte will lose by 47 again, but this isn’t an easy matchup for them. Miami’s defense has struggled a bit early on, but this could be the game where they turn it around. The Hornets are well-scouted, and any team that isn’t pressuring their wings and guards is making a mistake. The Heat have the guys for it, like Davion Mitchell and Andrew Wiggins. Plus, with Giannis and Bam Adebayo guarding the backline, it’ll be hard for Charlotte to attack the rim. Campos says the Hornets need to hit their threes and take care of the ball, but even then, they might not score enough to beat a solid opponent like Miami.
