Adam Joseph Promoted to Chief Meteorologist at 6abc Action News
6abc has promoted longtime meteorologist Adam Joseph to the role of chief meteorologist for Action News, filling the position left open by Cecily Tynan’s retirement in August. Joseph, who has been with the station for 20 years, most recently served as the weekday senior meteorologist for the 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 10 p.m. newscasts. John W. Morris, the general manager of WPVI-TV, praised Joseph as a beloved and trusted figure in the region, highlighting his enthusiasm, dedication, and ability to explain complex weather systems clearly. Joseph started at 6abc in 2005 as a weekend meteorologist and has since become a viewer favorite, contributing to major events like the Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade and appearing on ABC News’ Good Morning America. His accolades include being named Philadelphia’s Best Meteorologist in 2009 and receiving a 40 Under 40 Award in 2011. Before joining 6abc, he worked as a chief meteorologist in West Virginia, earning the AMS Seal of Approval. Outside of broadcasting, Joseph is deeply involved in community efforts with Hospice and the American Cancer Society, and as an avid athlete, he’s completed numerous triathlons. He holds a degree from Lyndon State College and lives in the Philadelphia suburbs with his family. Looking ahead, he dreams of publishing a cookbook and hosting a cooking and gardening show.
