Indigo Girls Pause Tour After Driver’s Fatal Crash
The Indigo Girls are dealing with a heartbreaking loss. Their tour bus driver, Kirk, died in a crash on the highway, and the band is taking time to grieve. Amy Ray and Emily Saliers shared the news on social media, calling Kirk a key part of their life on the road. Because of this, they canceled their show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to honor his memory and handle the situation. They described Kirk as someone who kept them safe through all kinds of weather and miles, and they’ll miss him a lot. The crash happened early on October 9 when a motor coach hit a tractor-trailer that had broken down on Interstate 20. Only the coach driver was hurt, and the police are looking into it. The band also had to move their Wilmington, North Carolina, show, and other dates in Florida and Texas are up in the air. They asked fans to send love to Kirk and said they’ll be back when they’re ready. This isn’t the first hiccup; Emily was sick with the flu recently, which led to canceling shows in Memphis, Atlanta, and Raleigh.
