The Rookie Season 9 and Spinoff North Land January Premiere Dates on Wednesdays
ABC’s hit crime show ‘The Rookie’ is shifting gears again. The ninth season starring Nathan Fillion is set to premiere on January 6, moving to a new night: Wednesdays at 9 PM. Right behind it, the new spinoff ‘The Rookie: North’, starring Jay Ellis, will launch the same night at 10 PM. The big reveal came during a sizzle reel at New York Comic-Con, giving fans a first look at the rescue mission to save Tim and Lucy, who got kidnapped in the season eight finale. Showrunner Alexi Hawley also spilled the beans on some big guest stars. Troian Bellisario is joining as a rookie looking for a fresh start, Dulé Hill will play a stressed-out Watch Commander, and Molly Kunz is showing up as an EMT. Meanwhile, Andy Allo is set to star in the spinoff as a doctor who hits it off with a rookie cop. This marks the eighth time the main show has changed time slots since it started, but pairing them up on Wednesday nights is a classic move to help launch the new spinoff smoothly.
