Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Brazilian top flight, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Fluminense vs Santos

🇧🇷 Serie A

⏰ Sunday 18 October, 20:00

Fluminense will look to strengthen their position inside the top four of the Brazilian Serie A table as they welcome eighth-placed Santos to the iconic Maracana on Sunday night in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Marcao’s hosts have scored 48 goals across their opening 30 Serie A fixtures this season, with 28 (58%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Tricolour have blanked in just one of their opening 15 league outings on home soil this term, scoring on multiple occasions in nine (60%) of them – including in three of their past four – and will be confident of breaching a Santos backline that has kept just three clean sheets on their travels this campaign, shipping 25 goals.

Cuca’s visitors have scored 46 goals across their opening 30 matches in the Brazilian top flight this term, with 24 (52%) of them coming on their travels.

The Peixe have failed to get on the scoresheet just once on their travels this season – scoring 2+ goals in three of their last four and six of their past 10 – and will look to continue their fine goal-scoring record on the road against a Fluminense defence that’s kept just three clean sheets across their previous 22 league outings.

Bet of the Day

Fluminense’s opening 15 Serie A fixtures in front of their supporters this season have averaged 2.80 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 10 (67%) of them – including in eight of their most recent 11.

Santos’ opening 15 road trips in the Brazilian top flight have averaged a league-high 3.27 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 12 (80%) of them – including in three of their past four – and I’m backing that trend to continue in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday evening.
