Matchday 31: Nashville SC’s Shot at Supporters’ Shield Glory
Nashville SC has the chance to make history this Saturday as they take on the San Jose Earthquakes in Matchday 31. The Supporters’ Shield goes to the team with the best regular-season record, and Nashville can secure it with a win. If they don’t win, a draw could still be enough if Vancouver fails to win against Austin, or if both Vancouver and Miami drop points in their matches. Clinching the Shield on Saturday would make Nashville the first team to do it with four games to spare. They’re averaging 2.28 points per game, with 66 points so far, pushing to break the MLS single-season record of 74 points set by Inter Miami in 2024. This would be their second trophy, after winning the US Open Cup last year under coach B.J. Callaghan. The win would also give them home-field advantage in the playoffs and a berth in the Concacaf Champions Cup. Plus, they’re on track to lock down the Eastern Conference’s top seed, having already clinched a playoff spot.
