Car Trouble Turns Fatal: Teen Killed on US 281

An 18-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a car on the shoulder of US Highway 281. She had stopped there early Saturday morning because her vehicle had mechanical issues. A bystander helped push her car off the main lanes, but as she stepped out of the vehicle, she was struck by another car around 2:45 a.m. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver who hit her stayed at the scene and was not under the influence, so no criminal charges are expected.
