Boca Juniors Lineup Confirmed: Battaglia Returns for Talleres Clash After 10 Months
Boca Juniors have finalized their team for the upcoming match against Talleres, set for Friday at 9:30 PM at La Bombonera. Despite having a Copa Sudamericana semifinal second leg against Vasco da Gama on Tuesday—where they need to overturn a 1-0 deficit—the team will field a strong lineup with several key players starting.
The Xeneize made four changes from the previous match: Costa, Battaglia, Romero, and Merentiel come into the starting eleven. The standout news is the return of Rodrigo Battaglia, who will play his first official game in ten months after recovering from an injury sustained against Racing in the Clausura 2025.
The expected formation is: Álvaro Montero in goal; Leandro Lozano, Lautaro Di Lollo, Ayrton Costa, and Lautaro Blanco in defense; Santiago Ascacíbar, Rodrigo Battaglia, and Milton Delgado in midfield; with Ángel Romero, Miguel Merentiel, and Leonel Flores up front. These changes replace Herrera, Alarcón, Palacios, and Valencia, respectively.
This match is critical for Boca’s hopes of topping the league table—a win would make them the sole leaders. It also provides a morale boost before their trip to Rio de Janeiro for the continental rematch. With the series against Vasco hanging in the balance after the first-leg loss, Battaglia’s comeback adds an emotional edge to the night.
