Dodgers’ Max Muncy Drops Blunt Assessment After 3-0 NLCS Hole: ‘Playing Like S—
The Los Angeles Dodgers are in a deep hole, and their star third baseman isn’t sugarcoating it. After a 6-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series on Wednesday, putting them down 3-0, Max Muncy kept it real with reporters in the locker room.
“It’s a pretty simple answer. We’re playing like s—, they’re playing great. As simple as that,” Muncy said, hitting harder than any hit he’s taken at the plate this series.
Muncy is one of several Dodgers stars struggling big time in this postseason, sitting at just 4-for-21. While he did manage to hit some balls over the fence, all three of his home runs came during the National League Division Series. In the NLCS, the Dodgers’ power has completely vanished, and they haven’t hit a single home run yet.
The offense is starving for big moments. In the postseason, the Dodgers are a miserable 3-for-32 with runners in scoring position. They finally broke through in the sixth inning when catcher Will Smith smashed a double off the wall to score two runs and grab a 2-1 lead. But the joy didn’t last. Brewers reliever DL Hall came in, struck out the next two guys, and killed the momentum.
The lead didn’t even survive the top of the seventh. Jake Bauers hammered a massive two-run home run off Blake Snell after a long battle, flipping the score to 3-2. Garrett Mitchell followed that up with a solo shot of his own, pushing the Brewers ahead 4-2. From there, the Dodgers’ bats went completely cold. They went down in order, nine batters in a row, to seal the 6-2 defeat.
Now, the Dodgers are staring down the barrel of a sweep. Their quest for a third straight World Series title is hanging by a thread. They need to turn things around fast when they face the Brewers for Game 4 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX, or their season is over.
