DJ Moore’s Monday Night Fate: Will the Bills’ Top Target Play Against the Rams?
The Buffalo Bills are set to face the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football, and everyone is asking the same question: is DJ Moore actually going to play? Moore is officially listed as questionable, dealing with a shoulder injury that has been bugging him since Week 2. He sat out Thursday and Friday practices but got some limited work on Saturday, giving fans a little bit of hope.
To add to the uncertainty, the Bills elevated wide receiver Trent Sherfield Sr. from the practice squad. While some might see this as a sign Moore is iffy, it could just be extra depth since Joshua Palmer is already ruled out with his own shoulder issue. Moore got hurt against Detroit and re-aggravated the shoulder in the second quarter of last week’s loss to New England. He has played through it, but it clearly hasn’t been easy.
When Moore is on the field, he is Josh Allen’s favorite target. In four games, he has 12 catches for 178 yards and a touchdown. In Week 1 against Houston, he was a beast with five catches for 100 yards and a score. In Week 3, he pulled in six passes. Nine of his twelve receptions have resulted in first downs, showing how much he moves the chains.
If Moore can’t go or has to play limited, Keon Coleman is going to have to carry the load. Coleman had a massive game last week against the Patriots, grabbing six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown. Five of those catches were for first downs, and he averaged nearly 13 air yards per target. If Moore is sidelined, Coleman has to step up and be the explosive playmaker the Bills need against a tough Rams defense.
