Canelo’s Brave Stand: Riyadh Fight On Despite Attacks
Even with the violence heating up in the region, Canelo Alvarez is still down to fight in Saudi Arabia. Turki Alalshikh, a key figure in boxing and the Saudi government, shared that Canelo personally reached out to say he’ll go ahead with the fight on October 31st against Christian Mbilli, no matter what. Alalshikh posted on social media, ‘Canelo fears nothing. My country is safe and welcoming.’ This comes after a recent attack on Riyadh’s airport that caused casualties and injuries. The U.S. has warned citizens to avoid the area, but Canelo, 36, is pushing forward. This bout marks his first fight since his loss to Terence Crawford last September. He’s fought in Riyadh before, back in May 2025, and seems ready for another round despite the chaos.
